Simon-Kucher: Leading the Charge in Sustainable Business Travel for the Second Year Running

Evaluated alongside 327 companies globally in the Travel Smart Campaign, Simon-Kucher stands out for its rail-centric policies and efforts to reduce aviation emissions. Reaffirming its leadership in sustainable business travel.

Cologne, December 2 – Simon-Kucher has again been recognized as a global leader in sustainable business travel by the Travel Smart Campaign, led by Transport & Environment, Europe’s leading NGO for cleaner transport. This recognition, earned for the second consecutive year, highlights the consultancy’s efforts to reduce its travel-related climate impact while maintaining exceptional client relationships.

Out of 327 companies evaluated worldwide, Simon-Kucher stands out as one of just 36 to implement rail-centric policies that significantly cut aviation emissions. These efforts are central to the firm’s broader sustainability strategy, prioritizing replacing flights with virtual meetings, increasing rail use for short distances, carpooling, and encouraging longer project stays to reduce repeated trips.

Anne Rupp, Simon-Kucher’s Global Head of ESG, shared: "Business travel is a significant source of our emissions. To address this, we are pursuing science-based targets and promoting sustainable practices. These include replacing flights with virtual meetings, using rail for short distances, carpooling, and encouraging longer project stays to reduce repeated trips."

Simon-Kucher’s employees are critical to the success of these initiatives. Their strong engagement ensures the policies are embraced and seamlessly integrated into daily operations.

The company’s commitment to sustainability is backed by ambitious goals: a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions, primarily from business travel, by 2030. These initiatives reflect Simon-Kucher’s belief in environmental responsibility while maintaining strong client partnerships.
