The management consultancy continues to grow, despite the difficult economic year. New partners strengthen the company’s expertise, particularly in the Life Sciences division. In addition, the consultancy is planning to establish its own software venture.
London/Bonn, January 27, 2021 – The global strategy and marketing consultancy Simon-Kucher & Partners ended the 2020 financial year with an annual revenue of 361.5 million euros (406.2 million US dollars). This equals a growth rate of one percent compared to the previous year, with the Life Sciences division reporting the largest increase in revenue (19 percent). “2020 wasn’t an easy year for any company or industry,” says co-CEO Mark Billige. “We weren’t able to achieve what we had originally planned for the previous year. But despite the ongoing crisis, we are optimistic for 2021 and expect we’ll be able to quickly find our way back to our usual double-digit growth -- thanks in no small part to our strong team of committed and motivated employees.”
In the area of digitalization and automation, in particular, Billige sees significant growth potential. “The effects of COVID-19 have further intensified digital transformation, both in personal and business environments. Companies have to change their business models, rethink how they interact with their customers, and adapt their sales approach. Our expertise in these areas is more in demand than ever.” To this end, Simon-Kucher will set up a new investment vehicle focused on scalable software products. The company will be a 100 percent owned subsidiary of Simon-Kucher but will operate as a software company and venture vehicle rather than a consulting firm. Andreas von der Gathen, co-CEO of Simon-Kucher, adds, “With this new subsidiary, we’ll be able to proactively provide clients in a wide variety of industries with tailored tools and software solutions that will help them further increase their top-line growth.”
New partners and plans for further expansion
On January 1, 2021, Simon-Kucher elected 18 new partners worldwide (eight in Europe, six in the Americas, and four in Asia), bringing the total number of partners to over 140. Eight of the newly appointed partners are experts in the global Healthcare & Life Sciences division at Simon-Kucher. “Life Sciences remains one of our strongest units,” says von der Gathen. “The experience and expertise our partners provide will help us develop our consulting services to be even more comprehensive and in depth for companies in the international healthcare sector.” The election of four new partners in Asia underscores Simon-Kucher’s plans for expansion in this fast-growing market.
The management consultancy also has plans to expand in terms of offices. The opening of a location in Berlin is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021, making it Simon-Kucher’s 41st office worldwide and the 6th office in Germany.
