Steven Kiefer has been with Simon-Kucher since November 2022 and has been serving as a Partner at the firm’s Frankfurt office since January 2025. He is part of the leadership and team of experts of the global Banking Practice. He is fully dedicated to advising and supporting German-speaking regional banks. He brings 15 years of professional experience in the banking sector.
His expertise focuses on market-oriented topics related to customer- and revenue-oriented pricing, product, and sales management, with an emphasis on aligning these areas closely with regulatory requirements and restrictions. Due to this specialization, he is the content leader within Simon-Kucher’s DACH Regional Banking Team for interest income optimizations and commercial strategies on deposits, corporate loans, and mortgage financing. Additionally, his responsibilities include supporting strategic processes, developing sales concepts, and regularly conducting scientific studies to consistently analyze customer behavior in the banking market.
After completing his training as a bank clerk and earning certification as a Certified Banking Specialist (Bankfachwirt), Mr. Kiefer pursued part-time studies in Business Administration with a focus on Banking & Finance at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management (B.Sc.) and Strategy & Marketing at the University of Münster (MBA). His doctoral research addressed the calculation and pricing of implicit option rights in banking products, using mortgage financing as a case study. As a result, he presented the first empirically validated model for margin-enhancing use of implicit option rights. Currently, he is further expanding his management competencies through a postgraduate diploma at the University of Oxford, where he was awarded the prestigious Rewley Fund cohort scholarship.
